We all know that Microsoft Outlook stores all the data in a single file called Outlook.pst. It stores all the email messages, calendar items, contact records and more. The more emails you receive the larger will grow your PST file. Similarly, the more you create contacts, tasks, calendar events etc, the bigger the file will grow. In Outlook the .pst file size is limited to a 2 GB. If a .pst file goes beyond this size limit, .pst file becomes corrupt and retrieval of emails and data from this oversized .pst file becomes difficult.

However, the most common reason that can corrupt a working PST file is 2 GB storage limitation of MS Outlook. Outlook usually indicates with messages that your PST file is about to cross the maximum size limit of 2 GB. When ever you get such a message do not ignore it. If you want your pst file to remain healthy, simply create a backup of your important emails and delete them from the pst file.
