Retrieve files from emptied Recycle Bin

Recycle Bin is a folder on the Windows desktop that represents the directory where the deleted files are temporarily stored. It is basically considered as a holding area. Files that have been deleted by the user, but not yet permanently erased from the physical media and enables you to retrieve the files that you may have accidently deleted. Recycle Bin gives the user a second chance to recover the files that they had deleted. But sometimes the files may be accidently emptied out of the recycle bin too and you can’t find them anymore on your hard drive. In this case you can recover deleted files from external hard drive with file recovery software.

A file or documents can be deleted from your computer in many scenarios. Some of the most common reasons for a file to get deleted or lost from your computer are accidentally deletion, accidentally formatting the drives, accidentally emptying the recycle bin, etc. When the Recycle Bin is emptied, the files present in it are not deleted, but the pointer pointing to the given files gets deleted. The area occupied by the file gets marked as free by the Operating System. Once the files are deleted from the Recycle Bin, they are still present on the hard drive and can be retrieved with the right software. Files are not actually erased but the bit of information that points to the location of the file on the hard drive gets erased. The operating system uses these pointers to build the directory free structure. When the pointer is erased, the file essentially becomes invisible to the operating system. The file still exists, the operating system just do not know how to find it. It is however, relatively, easy to retrieve the deleted files until it is over written.

The Operating system will overwrite files that have no pointers in the directory tree structure. This makes the disk space prone to over writing, when the new data is written onto the drive. Therefore, longer an un-pointed file remains in the hard drive the greater the probability it has to be over written. Hence, time plays a very important role as far as file recovery is concerned.  As soon as you realize that data loss has taken place, stop using the affected drive any further until you have successfully recovered the deleted data in it intact form.

There are many undelete software that are available in market, but it is always good to make use of the best undelete software to ensure complete data recovery. Files deleted from the Recycle Bin can be recovered using good recovery software.
